Basseterre- Thursday, 21stSeptember, 2021-The High-Level Week of the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly began today Tuesday 21st September, 2021, in a hybrid format, with more than 100 countries descending onto New York and participating in-person.

Honourable Mark Brantley, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation leads the in-person delegation attending the Opening Session of the high-level week.

This year, the United Nations General Assembly focuses on the theme “Building resilience through hope – to recover from COVID-19, rebuild sustainably, respond to the needs of the planet, respect the rights of people and revitalize the United Nations”.

As the week progresses in a hybrid format with some leaders delivering virtual and in-person statements, The Honourable Dr. Timothy Harris will deliver the National Statement of St. Kitts and Nevis virtually on Saturday 25th September, 2021.

While in New York, the Foreign Minister will engage in a series of bilateral and other meetings.

Attending the opening session this morning were the Hon Mark Brantley; H.E. Ian Liburd- Permanent Representative; Ms. Ghislaine Williams- Minister Counsellor, and Ms. Asha DeSuza- First Secretary
