Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 12, 2022 (SKNIS): The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis continues to benefit through strong diplomatic ties with the United States of America. On Friday, August 12, 2022, the Federation received a number of computers as a donation from the Virginia Schools to help boost education delivery across the Federation.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis and by extension the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, we would like to thank the Virginia Schools for donating these computers to community groups in Nevis and to the Ministry of Education in St. Kitts and Nevis. We understand that these are refurbished computers donated through Ambassador Hull, our Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS), and we are so happy that we can partner with the Virginia Schools to receive these computers which I understand will be donated to the Ministry of Education and any Community Centre that can benefit. We are grateful to the United States of America and USAID in particular for organizing the shipment of these computers for the benefit of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Permanent Secretary Ms. Kaye Bass.

The computer systems will enable communities most in need to benefit from modern technology, allowing students greater access to information across the Federation. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, William Hodge, expressed gratitude for the timely donation and future collaborations between the Virginia Schools and the Ministry of Education.

“I would just like to add my quote of thanks on behalf of the Ministry of Education for the computers that we are receiving. I understand that later there will be a group of students from the United States who will be linking up with our students here and they will teach them how to further refurbish some of these computers. But, we are indeed indebted to the local Ministry of Foreign Affairs for organizing this for us as well as Ambassador Hull our Permanent Representative to the OAS in Washington D. C. So, thank you very much for supporting all of this and to the United States for providing the transportation for us to get these computers here in St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Permanent Secretary Hodge.

The government of St. Kitts and Nevis remains committed to providing students with the best resources possible in an effort to prepare future generations for the 21st-century workforce.
