New Minister of Foreign Affairs holds first meeting with Ministry’s staff

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 18, 2022 (Ministry of Foreign Affairs et al): Thursday, 18th August, 2022, saw the first official meeting between the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Right Honourable Dr. Denzil L. Douglas and the Ministry’s staff. The meeting, held at the Ministry’s conference room at Port Zante, was chaired by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Kaye Bass, and had all staff present, save for those on vacation.

The new Foreign Affairs Minister in his initial remarks said he was humbled to serve in this new capacity, and publicly thanked his predecessor the Honourable Mark Brantley, Permanent Secretary Bass, and the entire staff for the valuable contributions they have made in this Ministry to further the Federation’s national development agenda. “We do not intend to discard anything,” said the new Minister. “We intend to build on what has already been achieved in the Foreign Service.”

Foreign Minister Dr. Douglas reminded his staff that Foreign Affairs is the face of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the world, and we must ensure that the image created is one that speaks with confidence when engaging the world.

In closing, Permanent Secretary Bass thanked the Minister for making time to meet with the staff and pledged her support and that of her staff in whatever aspirations the new Minister of Foreign Affairs has for the Ministry going forward.
