Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan), August 17, 2026 (Embassy of Saint Christopher
(Saint Kitts) and Nevis) – The Embassy of Saint Christopher (Saint Kitts) and Nevis to the
Republic of China (Taiwan) successfully hosted two summer camps, from August 5th-7th
at Ger-Jyh Senior High School and from August 10th-14th at Nanshan High School,
engaging students in activities that highlighted Saint Kitts and Nevis’ cultural,
developmental and diplomatic initiatives.
Fifty-one (51) students from Ger-Jyh Senior High School and thirty (30) from Nanshan
High School, two schools that are members of the Embassy’s sister school program, took
part in a week of activities under the theme SKN LOVE- Saint Kitts and Nevis’ Sustainable
Island State Agenda (SISA).
Saint Kitts and Nevis’ resident Ambassador to Taiwan, His Excellency Donya L. Francis,
stated that camps offered students the opportunity to learn more about Saint Kitts and
Nevis, improve their English-speaking skills and develop a greater appreciation for the
relationship between Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan).
“The SKNLOVE-SISA camps were organized to introduce the students to the Sustainable
Island State Agenda while highlighting the culture, heritage, and historical nature of the
Federation. These camps also gave students the platform to practice their English with our
students who are currently studying in Taiwan,” explained H. E. Francis.
During the camps, students were exposed to a variety of topics including: Historical Sites,Music in Saint Kitts and Nevis, SISA, the Taiwan Can Help initiative, and Festivals and Carnivals
focusing on the recently held Culturama.
They created models of historical sites and buildings in the Federation and designed graphics to commemorate the 43 years of diplomatic relations between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan and the Taiwan Can Help initiative. Additionally, students wrote and performed calypso songs, made carnival and Culturama headpieces, and participated in debates on topics related to SISA.
Campers at Nanshan High School were also taught the Maypole Dance by His Excellency Francis.
The Embassy expresses thanks to the Embassy’s staff, including Second Secretary Rolhensha
Henry, Executive Assistant Alice Huang and two summer interns, Ezrah Brandy and Ansel Lin, for
planning the week of activities and assisting at the camps.
Special thanks and commendation are extended to the main facilitators and volunteers, Saint Kitts
and Nevis’ students in Taiwan who, for the two weeks, took charge of the camps: Jacinth Hunkins,
Desmond Maynard, Tyrique Jeffers, Jahmarley Riley, Patricia Clarke, Yohance Willet, D’Quani
Clarke, Leeajah Caesar and Howard Liburd.
“This is our second year hosting the camp, and our students continue to volunteer their time during
their summer break, heading the sessions and assisting the Embassy with its people-to-people
interactions, and for that I am extremely grateful,” H.E. Francis said.
The Embassy presented Ger-Jyh Senior High School and Nanshan High School and the campers
with certificates of appreciation and participation.
