Sugar Mas 51 Official Events Calendar

The St. Kitts & Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC), has released its official Calendar of Activities
for Sugar Mas 51.

Pre-events commence in November with the Facetime Makeup Artist Challenge, and Sugar Mas officially
opens on Friday 2nd December with the Ministry of Creative Economy taking the lead in producing the Official
Sugar Mas Opening Ceremony in downtown Basseterre.

National Carnival Events returning to this year’s calendar after a 3-year hiatus due to the Covid-19
Pandemic, include the Junior Calypso Monarch, Talented Teen Competition as well as the highly anticipated
street activities J’ouvert and the Grand Parade.

This year, the Calendar incorporates over thirty (30) events promoted by private event promoters, including
panel discussions, paint and powder fetes, fashion events and concerts.
The Ministry of Creative Economy will host a number of events including, In the Spirit of Christmas, Folklore
Avenue featuring the Bull and Masquerade Competition and a new event entitled, Midnight Escape Street
Festival on Christmas Eve.

Senior officials from the National Carnival Committee are scheduled to further update the Media and the
Public on planned Carnival activities on Thursday October 6th, 2022 at a Press Conference to be held at the
St. Lucia Room at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort at 9am.
