A BILL to amend the Crown Proceedings Act, Cap 5.06. 

BE IT ENACTED by the King’s Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the National Assembly of Saint Christopher and Nevis and by the authority of the same as follows:

1. Short title.

This Act may be cited as the Crown Proceedings (Amendment) Act, 2023.

2. Interpretation.

In this Act, 

“Act” means the Crown Proceedings Act, Cap 5.06.

3. Amendment of section 14.

The Act is amended in section 14 by 

  • renumbering the section as subsection (1);
  • adding the following new subsection (2)

“ (2) All documents required to be served on the Crown for the purpose of or in connection with any civil proceedings by or against the Nevis Island Administration shall, where the proceedings by or against the Nevis Island Administration are brought in the name of an officer of the Nevis Island Administration, be served on that officer or on the Office of the Legal Department which functions within the Office of the Premier.”.
