Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 30, 2023 [Ministry of Health] – The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department at JNF General Hospital is proud to announce the commencement of a comprehensive training course on Pre-Hospital Emergency Care today, May 30, 2023. This course aims to enhance the skill sets of our dedicated EMS staff, enabling them to provide optimal care for patients under their supervision.

Facilitated by Matthew Rolph, a former paramedic from the United Kingdom and founder of EMS International, this training course represents the systematic and data-driven approach being demonstrated by this administration to improving pre-hospital emergency care. Mr. Rolph brings with him a wealth of knowledge and years of experience, and he is eager to share his expertise with our team of paramedics.

MR. MATTHEW ROLPH

“I’m here to help out, and to hopefully help develop EMS services so that there is comparability with international emergency health professionals,” expressed Mr. Rolph, emphasizing his dedication to fostering growth within the EMS field.

While this course serves as a foundational program, the Ministry of Health remains dedicated to providing continuous opportunities for our staff to further advance their knowledge and skills. By doing so, we strive to keep pace with the evolving healthcare landscape and deliver the highest standard of care to our community.

Over the next five days, the training course will cover updated techniques and procedures in emergency care. This immersive learning experience will empower our twelve participants to handle various emergency scenarios effectively, equipping them with the necessary tools to address critical situations with confidence.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Rolph and EMS International for their valuable support and guidance in facilitating this training course, as well as Dr. Woodley. Their contribution will undoubtedly elevate the standard of pre-hospital emergency care at JNF General Hospital.
