The Department of the Creative Economy also launched a “Promising Creatives Award” which celebrated two (2) students from Irishtown Primary School. Jayceon Smith and Daniella Jarvis both received certificates of achievement and a gift voucher of $500 each toward their development in the Arts, drumming, and dancing respectively. Ms. Sandrine Duncan affectionately known as “Method” received high commendation for her consistent passion and selfless upkeeping of the Mc Knight community. She received a fruit basket of appreciation.

Presentations were made by the Minister of Sports and The Creative Economy; Hon Samal Duggins, and Hon Marsha Henderson – Constituency Representative for Central Basseterre. The outreach was chaired by popular playwright Loughlin Tatem, who was born and raised in McKnight Community. The event saw a combined masquerade troupe and a solo clown-dance performance by our 2022 Grand Marshall Elvis ‘Sport’ Brown. People from the Mc Knight community greatly supported this initiative as they came out in their numbers and were thoroughly impressed and thanked the Department for such an outreach.

The Department of the Creative Economy wishes to thank all who assisted in making the outreach a success and invites all to another experience in Old Road in the month of July for the 2nd We Village Dat community outreach.
