BASSETERRE, St Kitts, 14 July, 2023 (Ministry of Sustainable Development) – The Government of St Kitts and Nevis will present, for the first time, a Voluntary National Review (VNR) to the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York on 18th July, 2023.

The Hon. Konris Maynard, Minister of Energy et al, will present the VNR at the HLPF, the primary space where the UN monitors the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the global level. The 2030 Agenda, otherwise referred to as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agenda, speaks to a plan of action geared towards improving five main pillars: People, Prosperity, Planet, Peace and Partnership.

The Voluntary National Review (VNR) is a process through which countries assess and present national progress made and challenges encountered in implementing the 2030 Agenda, including achieving its 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the pledge to leave no one behind.

During the HLPF, SDGs 6 (clean water and sanitation), 7 (affordable and clean energy), 9 (industry, innovation and infrastructure), 11 (sustainable cities and communities) and 17 (partnership for the Goals) will be reviewed in depth.

In addition to Minister Maynard, who heads the delegation, Sherilita Shez Dore-Tyson, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sustainable Development; Auren Manners, Director of the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP); Kevin Hope, National Consultant for the VNR; Nekirah Nicholls, the Federation’s representative to the UN Youth Advisory Council and Denaula Laplace, Communications and Research Officer in the Ministry of Sustainable Development et al, will represent the Federation.
