Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 21, 2023 (SKNIS): The St. Kitts Tourism Authority commenced its annual service excellence training workshops with the taxi operators’ group, which ran from August 9-11. The workshops are aimed at ensuring that stakeholders in the sector continue to execute their services with excellence in accordance with St. Kitts and Nevis’ destination standards.
The training, which is an annual mandatory exercise, is tailored specifically to each stakeholder group within the tourism sector including taxi operators, primate vendors, aloe rub vendors, representatives of attractions, tour guides, water operators, craft vendors, Porte Zante merchants, owners of bars and restaurants, tourism managers and hotel managers.
Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Melnecia Marshall stated that the Venture Deeper campaign encourages travellers to visit the destination not only for the sun, sea and sand but also for the experience of immersing themselves in the whole country.
“It is no longer about dropping them off at the beach and then going back for them; we want them to understand what living like a Kittitian is like, our history, our culture, and really getting into the essence of our destination,” said Ms. Marshall.
The workshops run as follows: for tour guides and certified drivers—August 18-21; for craft vendors—August 22; for water operators—August 28-29; for bars and restaurants—August 30 to September 8; and for St. Kitts Marriott Resort and Marriott Vacation Club—September 11-12.
