Work continues toward Sustainable Island State with convening of Intra-Ministerial Coordination Mechanism Management Team

Heads of Departments across the Ministry of Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Environment, Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment as well as the Permanent Secretaries that head both Ministries and the Minister at meeting

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, 20 September 2023 – The Ministry of Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Environment, Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment convened its very first Intra-ministerial Coordination Mechanism Management Team (ICMMT) meeting on Wednesday 13th September, 2023, at the Ministry of Finance’s Conference Room chaired by Minister responsible, Hon Dr. Joyelle Clarke.

The ICMMTs’ main objective is to ensure functional collaboration, knowledge sharing and cross-fertilization of ideas across the Ministries and to coordinate the design, application and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the Sustainable Island State Agenda (SISA).

It is made up of heads of departments across the Ministry of Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Environment, Climate Action and Constituency Empowerment as well as the Permanent Secretaries that head both Ministries, and the Minister.

The team will meet every two months to review department work plans, strategic plans for the ministries or statutory entities; monitor and evaluate the progress and impact of projects; advise on best practices and review and approve public awareness and engagement strategies considering sustainable development, environment, climate action, constituency empowerment, and health and environmental networks, among other mandates.
