The Human Resource Management Department on behalf of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure et al wishes to invite suitably qualified persons to fill the position of a Senior Engineer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Electricity Demand Forecasting;
- Development of national energy-economic models using LEAP;
- Integrated Resource and Resiliency Planning (IRRP);
- Development of national power systems models using PLEXOS;
- Simulation of energy scenarios for renewable energy, energy efficiency and electric vehicle impacts, and other impacts from other energy sources;
- Economic policy analysis of scenarios using benefit cost analysis techniques;
- Planning for grid integration of intermittent renewable energy resources;
- Reporting to the Permanent Secretary with responsibility for Energy and/or Electricity through the Director of the Energy Unit;
- Liaison with local, regional, and international standards organizations concerning energy technology standards;
- Liaison with SKELEC, CARICOM Secretariat, the Caribbean Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (CCREEE) and other regional partners;
- Collaborate in the development of an Integrated Resource and Resilience Plan (IRRP) with SKELEC once every 5 years;
- Collaborate with key ministries that engage in aid and donor coordination namely Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Sustainable Development;
- Facilitate dialogue and cohesion of planning and policy with Line Ministries
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. – Electrical Engineering or Engineering Science with a focus on Power Systems Planning or the equivalent; and
- M.Sc. – Power Systems Planning, or Energy Engineering, Energy Economics, or Energy Planning or Energy Policy or Energy Management (all with strong focus on statistics and mathematics or data analysis) or the equivalent.
- Three (3) years in power systems planning, or integrated resource planning IRP) using electric utility production cost and expansion models, or the equivalent.
- Preferably, three (3) years in national energy planning using mathematical models.
Knowledge & Skills:
In addition to the requirements above, the post holder must have the following skills:
PLEXOS or the equivalent, LEAP or the equivalent, Integrated Resource Planning and/or Integrated Resource and Resilience Planning (IRRP);
ii. Statistical analysis using STRATA, R of the equivalent;
iii. Microsoft Office Suite;
iv. Preferably skilled in computer programming using Python;
v. Familiarity with GIS software.
Salary: K42 (94,164) per annum
