BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, FEBRUARY 13, 2024 – The Inland Revenue Department (The Department) is pleased to announce the extension of the deadline for the filing and payment of January 2024 Value Added Tax (VAT) to February 29, 2024. This extension aims to provide relief to taxpayers who have encountered challenges in renewing their business and occupation licenses, registering for accounts on the My Government Portal, and fulfilling their tax obligations.

The additional time granted will enable taxpayers to complete necessary administrative tasks and ensure compliance with tax regulations. To assist taxpayers in this process, tutorials are readily available on the department’s website and social media pages. These resources offer step-by-step guidance on filing and paying taxes, ensuring that taxpayers can navigate the process smoothly.

In line with our efforts to enhance efficiency and streamline operations, the Inland Revenue Department has discontinued the distribution of remittance forms. Instead, taxpayers are encouraged to utilize the My Government Portal for filing and payment purposes. Additionally, all taxpayers who have not renewed their 2024 Business and Occupation Licenses are requested to visit the Department to do so promptly.

During their visit, taxpayers will also be asked to register for a My Government Portal account to facilitate future tax transactions. To provide further support, customer support representatives are conveniently located in the Inland Revenue Department lobby to assist taxpayers in using kiosks for online filing and payment.

The Department acknowledges the significance of furnishing taxpayers with the essential resources and assistance to meet their tax obligations. Through the extension of the VAT filing and payment deadline, coupled with the provision of tutorials and support services, our aim is to guarantee a smooth and seamless process for all taxpayers.

Taxpayers are encouraged to take advantage of the extended deadline and available resources to meet their tax obligations promptly.
