Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 21, 2024 (SKNIS): The Department of Creative Economy within the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis is diligently working to help local creatives monetise their work on digital platforms.
Director of the department, Roberitine Webbe, stated this during the Creative Economy Press Conference held at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort on June 20.
“Monetising on YouTube and the relevant social media platforms is an untapped industry in St. Kitts because we do not have the infrastructure yet. However, we have made strides thus far with the Intellectual Property Office doing the necessary legislation to get there,” said Ms. Webbe.
The Director added that although digital platforms offer significant potential for creatives, some preliminary work is required to fully capitalise on this opportunity. The Department of Creative Economy will be hosting its first-ever Creative Power Arts Convention that will provide creators with the knowledge they need to achieve this.
The Creative Power Arts Convention takes place from August 31 to September 7, 2024. There, facilitators will go in-depth discussing various methods for creatives to monetise their work and share other valuable information in the arts.
Marketing and Communications Officer, Casim Pemberton, stated that these facilitators will be available to answer all questions related to the contemporary issues facing the creative industry, including content strategy, marketing, and various other business aspects.
