Manhattan, New York, September 22, 2024 (SKNIS): In a significant step toward strengthening bilateral ties, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, and Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Denzil Douglas, engaged in high-level discussions with His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana.

The meeting, held on Sunday, 22 September 2024, at the United Nations Headquarters, focused on expanding the already flourishing relationship between the two nations, including the reciprocation of visa-free access, fostering deeper collaboration with Ghana, and future areas of cooperation.

The bilateral discussions highlighted shared interests in expanding trade, investment, and cultural exchanges, with both leaders emphasising the importance of mutual respect and a forward-looking approach to foreign relations.

Prime Minister Dr. Drew conveyed optimism about the potential of the talks to strengthen collaboration across key sectors such as trade, education, and visa-free access, aimed at facilitating greater connectivity between the two nations. President Akufo-Addo expressed enthusiasm about the growing relationship, noting the immense potential for future cooperation in trade, technology, and tourism, while also emphasising the importance of fostering people-to-people exchanges.

Senior Minister Dr. Douglas highlighted how the discussions positioned both nations to strategically expand their diplomatic reach, particularly through stronger relationships with countries like Germany. He underscored the positive impact these efforts would have on the citizens and economies of both countries.

Prime Minister Dr. Drew noted that as both nations continue to explore new avenues for cooperation, this latest dialogue reaffirms the strong and enduring partnership between St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of Ghana.
