“In the Caribbean, we continue to call for and guard our zone of peace,” stated Prime Minister Dr. Drew, while highlighting how the declaration facilitated dialogue between Venezuela and Guyana, proving that peaceful diplomacy can resolve complex disputes. “This model of engagement—one of dialogue and cooperation—is the very essence upon which this institution was founded,” Dr. Drew asserted.

Prime Minister Dr. Drew also addressed the pressing issue of global conflict and human suffering. He reiterated CARICOM’s stance on the Israeli-Hamas conflict, calling for an immediate ceasefire.

“The only pathway to peace and to secure fundamental human rights and dignity is through the two-state solution,” he said, underscoring the Caribbean Community’s unwavering commitment to peace and security.

Dr. Drew dedicated a significant portion of his speech to Haiti, lauding its historic contributions to global freedom and expressing solidarity with the Haitian people in their ongoing struggles.

“Haiti was there for the downtrodden of the world, lighting the path toward freedom for many, and now the world must be there for Haiti,” Prime Minister Drew Dr. remarked. He emphasised that the establishment of the Multinational Security Support Mission by the Caribbean Community represents a commitment to restoring security, sustainability, and hope for Haiti’s future.

Dr. Drew called for an end to the U.S. embargo on Cuba and advocated for Taiwan’s inclusion in international organizations. He highlighted Cuba’s contributions in the fields of medicine and education and emphasized the importance of recognizing Taiwan’s role in sustainable development and innovation.

Prime Minister Dr. Drew’s address highlighted the interconnectedness of global peace, security, and sustainable development, reinforcing St. Kitts and Nevis’ role as a voice for the vulnerable and advocate for inclusive global cooperation.
