Basseterre, Saint Kitts (24 February 2025) – The Right Honourable Dr. Denzil Douglas was pleased to engage with Mr. Omar Shehadeh, Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to the Caribbean and Pacific States, on 24th February 2025.
The United Arab Emirates, a close diplomatic ally of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, has long supported the nation’s sustainable development goals through a number of measures. As such, this visit from Mr. Shehadeh and his delegation was warmly welcomed and provided an opportunity to reaffirm the strong bilateral ties between both nations.
During this meeting, Dr. Douglas engaged the UAE delegation on several matters concerning agriculture, trade, and investment, along with broader collaborative measures that may be pursued multilaterally for a more strategic approach to sustainable development.
The United Arab Emirates will be co-hosting the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, highlighting its commitment to global environmental leadership. Hence, Saint Kitts and Nevis looks forward to strengthening its partnership with the UAE in pursuit of shared goals under the Sustainable Island State Agenda, fostering resilience and sustainable progress.
