  • The bus driver is a professional who transports clients.  The driver is responsible for maintaining a clean bus at all times. Performs regular maintenance on the vehicle and obeys traffic laws while working to ensure safety of all passengers

JOB SPECIFICATION

Job Title:                                                        Bus Driver

Department:                                                  Secretariat

Location:                                                        3rd Floor Cable Building, Basseterre, St. Kitts

Salary Scale:                                                 K 10- K21

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Proven work experience in a similar role
  2. Clean driving record with no traffic violations or vehicular accidents within the last three years
  3. Woking knowledge of first aid

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Good command of the English Language – written and spoken
  • Sound knowledge of traffic laws
  • Basic maintenance of vehicles
  • Excellent customer service

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. To provide safe and reliable transportation for clients
  2. To address any issues or concerns that passengers may have while using the Ministry’s services
  3. To obey all traffic laws and ensure the safe transportation of clients
  4. To assist clients with getting on and off the vehicle safely
  5. Engage clients as they enter and leave the bus
  6. Being attentive to traffic and weather conditions
  7. Regularly checking vehicle
  8. Monitoring and reporting fuel use, mileage and passenger numbers
  9. Reporting delays and emergencies
  10. Inspecting the vehicle before and after each trip
  11. Enforcing conduct and safety rules on the bus
  12. Maintaining a clean vehicle

Driver will be expected to work additional hours when the Ministry has events

Internally:                    Department of Youth Empowerment

                                    Department of Ageing

                                    Department of Disability Services

Externally:

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:

This job is satisfactorily performed when:

  • Transportation service is reliable.
  • Vehicle is maintained on a regular basis
  • Vehicle is clean
  • No traffic violations or citations are recorded
  • Positive reviews from clients

Authority To:                                                                         N/A

WORKING HOURS:

Monday to Friday                               8:00 am to 4:00 pm

1 Hour Lunch Break
