A special ceremony is being organized for this Friday, 12th May, to officially name and reveal, the six successful applicants who have been selected to serve as Brand Ambassadors for the St. Kitts Music Festival’s 2017 edition.
The event will be staged at 9:00 pm at the well-known Sky Lounge, located in the Royal Beach Casino, at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel in Frigate Bay.
The event, which is dubbed, “Shades of Masks” is free and fully opened to the public to attend.
Before the Reveal of the ambassadors, brief remarks are to be presented by representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, the Executive Committee of the Festival and the St. Kitts Tourism Authority.
Each ambassador is also scheduled to make brief introductory remarks.
As a prelude to their launch, and to help prepare them for their role, the ambassadors were put through a series of training on the history of the festival, sales and marketing techniques, an orientation on the features of the destination, (St. Kitts), etiquette interview skills and speech presentation.
The main recruitment drive for the ambassador program came in the form of a Casting Call on Friday 7th April, on Fort Street.
According to festival officials, the role of the ambassadors is crucial to the success of the activities being organized to build support and momentum for the June 22nd – 24th event at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium.
The festival is an important feature of the overall product of the tourist destination of St. Kitts and since 1996, the three day affair has been used to provide more exposure for the island, attract greater levels of visitors, while also delivering a first class package of world class entertainment.
The festival was introduced 21 years ago at a time when hotel occupancies were experiencing very low levels, leading to the closure of some properties and the temporary loss of jobs.
The festival was therefore designed to, and has managed in the past two decades, to reverse that trend.
This is precisely why the organizers of the Music Festival have been paying more attention to its marketing program, and why they have introduced the brand ambassador program, to help “drum up” more support locally and from overseas patrons.
Immediately after their launch this weekend, the ambassadors are expected to engage in various events and activities, including media interviews, sponsor visits and special promotional events throughout the two islands (St. Kitts & Nevis).
The public is being encouraged to turn out in their large numbers at the Sky Lounge on Friday, to give their support to the new ambassadors.
