Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 13, 2019 (SKNIS): Since assuming office on February 16, 2015, the Team Unity Administration has performed exceptionally well, said the Honourable Lindsay Grant during a “Community Consultation” town hall styled meeting in Cayon on Tuesday, March 12, 2019.

“This government works day and night for you. We have delivered for you and we continue to deliver for you. Never have I seen or never have you seen a government in four short years perform like this Team Unity Government,” said Minister Grant.

Minister Grant reflected on the Team Unity’s Manifesto 2015-2020 which outlines the five year vision of the tripartite government.

“The manifesto is our contract with the people… and I want you to examine the manifesto and you would recognize that almost every single thing in that manifesto we said we would deliver we have delivered and more,” said Minister Grant.

He encouraged the people to play their part in ensuring that the trend of good governance and prosperity for all continues.

“We came to you in 2015 asking you for an opportunity to show you what we can do. Now we have shown you what we can do and have done, we are asking you for another opportunity to continue the good work of the Unity Government,” he added.

Some of Team Unity Administration’s accomplishments to date include but are not limited to: the removal of VAT from the cost of food, medicine & funeral expenses; payment of EC$16 million in past due gratuities to former sugar workers; construction of a temporary campus for the Basseterre High School at Taylor’s Range which brought an effective end to the shift system; the establishment of an Oncology Unit at JNF General Hospital for treatment of cancer; the return of order and decorum to the Federal Parliament and meeting Constitutional Obligation re: Appointment of a Deputy Speaker; repairs, renovation and re-opening of the Mary Charles Hospital in Molineaux; construction and dedication of the Mental Health Day Treatment Centre at Lime Kiln, St. Kitts; Roll out of the Poverty Alleviation Programme; establishment of the Criminal Justice Strategic Board, and budgetary Support for Nevis in the amount of $62.5 million (SIDF contribution), and another $52 million from the Federal Government for various infrastructure and developmental initiatives – as a result of closer ties between the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration (NIA). Additionally, Phase One of the Island Main Road Rehabilitation Project is completed and Phase Two will begin on March 14 with the official contract signing ceremony. A second cruise pier at Port Zante is expected to be completed later this year.
