Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 21, 2019 (SKNIS): Persons in the Boyd’s community and surrounding neighbourhoods will soon benefit from an upgrade to the roads and drains in the area, said the Minister of Public Infrastructure, the Honourable Ian Patches Liburd, during the March 20 “Community Consultation” town hall styled meeting at the St. Johnston Community Centre.

“We are going to address the roads in the lower part of Boyd’s Housing Project. We will address those roads because in that area there is about three miles stretch of roads to be paved…” said Minister Liburd, adding that this is just the first phase of the project to be undertaken. “We are also going to address the drainage for the water that comes from the Fairview Inn area and goes down to the Bronte Welch Primary School.”

The public infrastructure minister added that “it is important that when we build roads we also provide the drainage” so that the water cannot settle.

He said that work will also be done in the Lime Kiln area.

“We are going to address the drainage in Lime Kiln and we are also going to address that dirt road next to Manhattan Gardens and buildout the roads in number three,” Minister Liburd added. “Your Team Unity Government continues to work hard on the continuing development and modernization of St. Kitts and Nevis.”

Minister Liburd spoke to several current and completed projects in the Federation, remarking that the government saw the need to address the infrastructure deficiency around the island. These include but are not limited to the resurfacing of the island main road, the Old Road Rehabilitation Project, the construction of the new cruise pier, the completed East Line Bus Terminal, the upgraded Ferry Terminal, and the installation of traffic lights.
