The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) is deeply concerned at the unusually high number of traffic accidents on both St. Kitts and Nevis, some of which have resulted in loss of life. On June 21st, 2023, Kenrick T. Phillip of Stonefort Estate was severely injured in a traffic accident in Conyers, St. Kitts. He subsequently sought overseas medical attention. Regrettably, his injuries proved too severe and he succumbed on July 2nd, 2023. On July 1st, 2023, Joneal Sprouse of Middle Island, St. Kitts, was involved in a traffic accident in the vicinity of the solar farm on the Frigate Bay Road. Mr. Sprouse, unfortunately, succumbed on July 3rd, 2023, to the injuries he sustained in the collision. We hereby extend our sincere condolences to all who have been adversely impacted by the untimely departure of both Mr. Phillip and Mr. Sprouse.

During the course of our investigations into traffic accidents this year and others past, driving at excessively high speeds has repeatedly been identified as their main cause. Coming in at a close second is driving without due care and attention. We continue to implore drivers and motorists to exercise adequate vigilance and extreme care while driving. Speed has never been, and will never be a solution for lateness. It will also never provide the guarantee of safe arrival at your destination of choice.

In an effort to assist the general public with fully adhering to the Federation’s traffic laws in particular, the Police Force will have an increased presence in communities around the country. We owe it to each other to conduct ourselves at all times in a manner that protects and respects the safety, security, and peace of mind of others. As the chief law enforcement agency in the Federation, the RSCNPF owes it to one and all to do its part in maintaining that safety. In this regard, we will continue to fulfill our national mandate without fear or favour to the benefit of one and all.
