Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 28, 2023 [Ministry of Health] — The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Ministry of Health have partnered to conduct a National Consultation on Mental Health. This critical initiative will assemble medical professionals, policymakers, and community leaders to deliberate on strategies to meet the urgent mental health needs facing our communities.
The consultation will officially commence with an opening ceremony on Monday, 28th August, at 9:00 a.m., at the Marriott Ballroom. The event promises to set the tone for an enlightening and impactful series of discussions.
The first of these discussions will begin in Nevis on Tuesday, August 29th, starting at 9:00 a.m. and running until 4:00 p.m. These small group consultations aim to encourage candid conversations about the unique mental health challenges and opportunities in various local communities.
On Wednesday, August 30th, the sessions reconvened at the Marriott. These final discussions will help synthesize the insights gained throughout the week into actionable policies and recommendations.
“The importance of mental health can no longer be underestimated in the healthcare sphere. This National Consultation will act as a catalyst for groundbreaking policies and community engagement,” said Dr. Sharon Archibald, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health.
