Basseterre, St. Kitts, 11 th December 2024 (CFBC): Final-year students in the Hospitality
Course at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) demonstrated their exceptional skills and
creativity during the annual Bar Operation Competition, held as part of their final exam practical
for the course Bar Operation on Sunday, 1 st December 2024, at the John Nathaniel Hospitality
Centre on the college’s main campus.

The students have been diligently preparing throughout the two-year programme to ensure they
are ready and well-equipped to thrive in the country’s vibrant tourism and hospitality sector.
The Bar Operation Competition and Final Exam Practical thoroughly evaluated the students’
practical knowledge and skills in bar operations. This event simulated real-world scenarios,
allowing students to effectively apply their theoretical learning in a hands-on environment.
Each student was assigned the task of creating and presenting an authentic cocktail to a panel of
judges, which included experienced local bartenders and industry experts from Park Hyatt and
Carambola. These judges provided meaningful feedback to help the students refine their skills,
improve their creations and get a deeper understanding of the art of mixology.
Additionally, theatrical performances were a key element of the competition, with students using
dances, songs, and skits to introduce the themes and names of their cocktails.

with a total score of 50 points.

presentation and technical skills. Angelique Matthew received the award for most accurate,
Kaynoiya Hamilton was recognised as the most confident, and Jeriecia Lucas was honoured for
creating the best-tasting cocktail.

“I introduced the Bar Operation Competition to the CFBC so that students can put their learning
into practice. This year’s the competition was keenly contested. A lot of work went into it. I was
really impressed with the performance of the students. The competition is achieving its
objectives, and we will continue to host it for the foreseeable future,” said Dominic Stevens,
Lecturer for the Bar Operation Course.

The competition was a resounding success, showcasing the students’ impressive skills and
creativity, and also highlighting the high standards of the Hospitality Programme at the Clarence
Fitzroy Bryant College.
