Ambassador Mutryce Williams prioritizes youth empowerment and agency in rich exchange with visiting Columbia University Model United Nations delegation

United Nations, New York (21 January 2025) – The Permanent Mission of St. Kitts and
Nevis, in keeping with Her Excellency Dr. Mutryce Williams’ focus on sustainability and
security, engaged with a high school delegation from Indonesia visiting for the Columbia
University Model United Nations Conference and Exposition 2025. Her Excellency’s
deep dive into the foreign policy and culture of St. Kitts and Nevis benefitted from the
presence and input of H.E Donya Francis, Ambassador to Taiwan and Mr. Eustace T.
Wallace, Minister Counselor at Permanent Mission. 

The Federation’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations encouraged the
delegation, mostly from Indonesia, “to be curious throughout their development, and not
be limited by the school or discipline one chooses early on in their development.”

Government of St. Kitts and Nevis Unveils Vibrant “Independence 42” Calendar, Celebrating 42 Yearsof Sovereign Progress

 She further championed the “United Nations as a force for good in the world and
lauded the work the Organization does to empower and protect youth, as well
sustainable development and resilience particularly for women and girls.”   

His Excellency Donya Francis for his part, “imparted that as former teacher the
opportunity to engage with students is critical to bridging generational and cultural
divides as groups seek mutual understanding for cooperation and connectivity.” 
According to the organizers, the event “as one of the country’s premier high school
Model United Nations conferences, the Columbia University Model United Nations
Conference and Exposition (CMUNCE) brings together delegates from around the world
to participate in a uniquely challenging, stimulating, and enriching debate experience.”
 The Columbia University Model United Nations Conference and Exposition ran from 16 th
to 19 January 2025 in New York City. 

Dr. Mutryce Williams invites youth from across St. Kitts and Nevis to seek model United
Nations opportunities for such programs empower youth to embrace their agency and
impact on issues of importance to the next generation.
