The Ministry of National Security on behalf of the Royal St. Christopher & Nevis Police Force wishes to invite persons to apply for the position of Director of Forensic Services on a contractual basis.
A. Job Summary:
The Director of Forensic Services is responsible for providing strategic leadership, management, and oversight of all forensic operations within the RSCNPF. This role ensures the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality forensic services in support of criminal investigations and judicial proceedings. The Director leads a multidisciplinary team of forensic experts and ensures compliance with national and international standards of forensic science.
B. Key Responsibilities:
∙ Oversee the overall operations of the Forensic Services Division, including crime scene investigation, laboratory analysis, and evidence management.
∙ Develop, implement, and review forensic policies, protocols, and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with best practices and legal standards.
∙ Ensure the proper documentation, analysis, preservation, and chain-of-custody of physical evidence.
∙ Manage departmental budgets, procurement of forensic equipment, and resource allocation.
∙ Supervise, mentor, and evaluate forensic personnel, ensuring ongoing professional development and performance standards.
∙ Liaise with law enforcement, legal professionals, government agencies, and international partners on forensic matters.
∙ Maintain oversight of quality assurance programs and accreditation processes for forensic services.
∙ Provide expert testimony in court proceedings when required.
∙ Conduct forensic reviews and audits to maintain high standards of accountability and integrity.
∙ Coordinate the introduction of new forensic technologies and systems, and lead innovation in forensic methodologies.
∙ Represent the RSCNPF at local, regional, and international forensic or law enforcement meetings and conferences.
C. Qualifications:
∙ Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree preferred in Forensic Science, Criminalistics, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
∙ Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in forensic science, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
∙ Experience in crime scene management, laboratory oversight, and judicial proceedings. ∙ Certifications in forensic disciplines or management accreditation experience are highly desirable.
