Montego Bay, Jamaica July 7, 2025 (PMO)— Last evening, July 6th, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, attended the official Opening Ceremony of the 49th Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), held in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The Prime Minister was joined by his delegation, which included Foreign Minister Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil Douglas, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office Ms. Naeemah Hazelle, Press Secretary, Mr. Javon Liburd, Director Ms. Viera Galloway and Senior Foreign Service Officer Mr. Bjorn Hazel.
The opening ceremony marked the formal commencement of the two-day summit, bringing together regional leaders to address shared priorities including climate resilience, regional security, food and energy sovereignty, economic growth, digital transformation, and the advancement of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME). The meeting is especially significant as it ushers in the Chairmanship of the Caribbean Community by the Most Honourable Andrew Holness, Prime Minister of Jamaica.

The participation of St. Kitts and Nevis reflects the Federation’s deep commitment to regional integration and its active role in advancing collective action on the global stage.
The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis remains steadfast in supporting the ideals and mechanisms of CARICOM, particularly as the region faces mounting global challenges that demand innovation and decisive leadership.
