JOB SUMMARY:
Head of the Statistics Department with full responsibility of managing the operations of the department.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
❖Bachelor’s degree in Statistics
❖Master’s degree in related field
❖10 years experience in the field of Statistics

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
❖Knowledgeable and certified in the area of Statistics and can produce National Reports
❖IT skills
❖Management skills and abilities

Requirements of the Job:
The successful applicant must be able to:
❖Manage a department
❖Produce all the necessary national statistics reports
❖Organize work and achieve outcomes and meet deadlines.
❖ Must have proven high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present, prepare professional reports, policies, strategies, grants and correspondence.
❖ Must be a team player
❖ Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions as a high-level statistician
❖ Must be able to communicate at all levels

WORKING HOURS:
Traditional: Monday – Friday 8:00-4pm
Overtime when necessary
Mandatory Participation in Department and Ministry sanctioned activities and programs.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Comfortable working environment
❖ Will be required to sign and affirm the Oaths of Secrecy and Confidentiality
❖ Will be required to maintain regular, punctual attendance, consistent with regulations that govern civil servants.
❖ Will be required to attend activities and programs on weekends and evening hours
❖ Must be flexible to travel for meetings and workshops.
❖ May be required to work overtime to meet deadlines and successfully complete work-related activities.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate:
▪ Heads the Department and is an authority in the area of Statistics with pertinent professional designations
▪ Manages the staff in the Statistics department
▪ Produces and presents all the necessary reports required of the department
▪ Represents the Ministry on all statistics matters
▪ Trains the staff in the appropriate areas as per need
▪ Liaises with the public for data gathering
▪ Submits appropriate monthly, annual reports to the Permanent Secretary
▪ Interprets data for government’s use
▪ Projects the department strategically for all its functions and responsibilities
▪ Performs any other duty that the Ministry may require
