Taipei, Republic of China (Taiwan), (September 11, 2025)— Saint Kitts and Nevis’ Sustainable Island State Agenda (SISA) was well publicized at a major Asia exhibition for innovative forces driving social and environmental sustainability.
On Thursday, September 11, 2025, the Embassy of Saint Christopher (Saint Kitts) and Nevis to the Republic of China (Taiwan) joined the 2025 SDG Asia Exhibition, where information was shared about the seven pillars of the Federation’s SISA: Energy Transition, Water Security, Food Security, Sustainable Industries, Sustainable Settlements, Circular Economy and Social Protection.
His Excellency Donya L. Francis, Saint Kitts and Nevis’ Ambassador to Taiwan, noted that Saint Kitts and Nevis has much to share as we successfully pursue our SISA and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
“The government of Saint Kitts and Nevis is committed to transforming the country by 2040 with projects like our water desalination plant, geothermal energy exploration, a 50 KW solar energy plant, waste management, smart homes and a new smart hospital,” Ambassador Francis outlined.
The nation’s participation in the event also included a performance of steel pan music and the clown dance at the opening ceremony. Jacinth Hunkins played a medley of songs on the steel pan, followed by a vibrant performance of the Clown dance by student cultural ambassadors: Howard Liburd, Janeeke Queeley, Kam’ron Warner, Kyle Douglas, Maleek Knight and Yohance Willett.
The Capacity Building Project for the Prevention and Control of Metabolic Chronic Diseases in Saint Kitts and Nevis earned the 2025 Taiwan Sustainability Action Award (TSAA) Asia-Pacific Bronze Award under Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3) at the ceremony.
Director of the Humanitarian Assistance Department for Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF), Wang Hung-tzu, greeted Ambassador Francis at the booth to share the award with Saint Kitts and Nevis.
This collaborative project, undertaken by Taiwan ICDF, Taipei Veterans General Hospital, and the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis, spanned from July 2020 to July 2024.
