Basseterre, Saint Kitts, November 28, 2025 (SKNIS) – The first cohort of trainees under the Cyber Nations Cyber Security Programme received their certificates on Thursday, November 27, 2025, marking a major milestone in the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis’ ongoing efforts to strengthen national digital capacity and position the Federation as a regional leader in cybersecurity and digital transformation.

The Cyber Nations Cyber Security Programme is a partnership between the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis and Canadian cybersecurity firm Protexxa, designed to train 100 nationals to internationally recognised standards. Over a six-month period, participants received both theoretical and hands-on training, preparing them for globally accredited certifications and direct employment opportunities in the rapidly expanding field of cybersecurity.
The programme forms part of the government’s comprehensive digital transformation agenda, which seeks to create a skilled workforce capable of supporting the nation’s move toward a sustainable, secure, and technologically advanced economy.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, Ms. Naeemah Hazelle, praised the initiative’s impact on national capacity building and inclusivity.
“This program was designed not only to train, but to create opportunities for a diverse population — for youth, for persons with mobility challenges, for those seeking employment in both the public and the private sectors,” said Permanent Secretary Hazelle. “But most importantly, it is about job readiness. Graduates will benefit from attachments and placements that allow them to apply their skills in real-world environments.”
Prime Minister, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, also attended Thursday’s ceremony to extend congratulations to the twenty-one (21) successful graduates.
In his remarks, Dr. Drew highlighted the connection between this programme and the government’s broader Sustainable Island State Agenda, emphasising that digital transformation is one of its seven key pillars.
“Presently, the government is undertaking a significant digital transformation. We now have a Digital Transformation Unit, and soon, citizens will benefit from an advanced national ID system that will allow them to conduct business entirely online,” the prime minister stated. “But as we digitise, we must ensure that our systems and citizens are protected. That is why we are investing in training our people — so they can build and safeguard the very infrastructure that underpins our digital future.”

The Cyber Nations Programme directly supports the government’s mission to equip citizens with the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy, ensuring that the nation remains secure, resilient, and competitive on the global stage.
The next cohort of trainees is scheduled to begin in January 2026, with registration opening next week. Additional registration details will be announced shortly.
