JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR OF AUDIT

JOB SUMMARY
- Audit the accounts of the Government of St Kitts and Nevis and the Nevis Island Administration
- Submit an Annual Report to the Minister for transmission to the National Assembly on the work of the National Audit Office, including on the Office’s examination of the annual accounts; and on whether, in carrying out the audit work, all information, reports and explanations required were forthcoming
- Express an opinion as to whether the Government of St Kitts and Nevis and the Nevis Island Administration represent fairly the financial position and results of operation of both entities.
- Make examinations and enquiries of Public Bodies and also Statutory Bodies as the Director of Audit considers necessary and appropriate
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- Appropriate professional accounting designation and membership in good standing (ACCA, CPA, CA)
- Minimum of 10 years post qualification experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Senior Audit Management
- Experience in performance or Value for Money audits and investigations
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
- Good command of the English Language

- Be an excellent communicator, both oral and written
- Have a high level of interpersonal and diplomacy skills
- Have strong analytical, leadership and problem-solving skills
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and oversee the day-to-day functioning of the National Audit Office in order to realize set goals and targets. This includes developing and implementing policies, programs and procedures to accomplish the goals of the Office.
- Make examinations and enquiries of Public Bodies as deemed necessary to facilitate reporting as required under the Audit Act Cap 20.01
- Review all Audit Reports and supporting documentation in accordance with the Office’s quality control framework to ensure quality control requirements are met.
- Assist the Public Accounts Committee when required through the provision of technical advice.
- Develop and implement strategic and annual business plans for the National Audit Office including an annual estimate of funds required for the operation of the Office.
- Ensure the National Audit Office’s audit practices comply with professional standards (i.e. International Audit Standards) and that the policies and methodologies adopted by the Office reflect current professional practice.
- Ensure that performance targets are set for all staff of the National Audit Office and ensure that the performance of staff is assessed against set targets.
- Perform any other duties necessary for the efficient operations of the National Audit Office and as may be assigned by Parliament.
