ROLE OVERVIEW
The Government of Saint Christopher and Nevis invites applications for the position of Comptroller of Inland Revenue.
The Comptroller is the statutory head and chief executive of the Inland Revenue Department, responsible for the administration, enforcement, modernization, and strategic leadership of all domestic tax laws and revenue statutes.
The role combines statutory authority, executive leadership, and policy stewardship, ensuring that the tax system operates fairly, efficiently, transparently, and in alignment with national fiscal and economic priorities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (SUMMARY)
The Comptroller will:
• Lead and manage the Inland Revenue Department as a modern revenue authority
• Administer and enforce all tax and revenue legislation
• Provide executive leadership, governance, and institutional direction
• Safeguard and enhance government revenue through risk-based compliance strategies
• Advise the Minister of Finance, Financial Secretary, and Cabinet on revenue performance, risks, and reform
• Oversee audit, compliance, enforcement, objections, and litigation strategy
• Lead digital transformation, data governance, and modernization initiatives
• Drive tax policy development and legislative reform
• Represent Saint Christopher and Nevis in regional and international tax forums
• Build institutional capacity, leadership development, and succession planning
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Applicants must possess:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, Business Administration, Economics, Law, or a related field
• At least ten (10) years’ professional experience in taxation, audit, accounting, finance, or regulatory administration
• A minimum of five (5) years at senior management or executive level
• A postgraduate qualification and/or professional accounting or tax designation is an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS
The role requires work in office and field environments and may involve extended hours and representation at local, regional, and international engagements.
