Basseterre , St. Kitts, February 12, 2017 (SKNIS): The Team Unity Administration (Government of National Unity) kicked off its week of activities to mark the second year anniversary in office with hundreds of the faithful giving praise and thanks to Almighty God for the laudable accomplishments at a church service at the Co-Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Basseterre on February 12, 2017.
His excellency the governor-general, Cabinet ministers, permanent secretaries, heads of departments, other senior government officials from St. Kitts and Nevis, members of the diplomatic and consular corps, the high command of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and several hundreds of the faithful turned out to show their appreciation for the leadership, foresight and sound policies of the government that have redounded to remarkable achievements in just two years in office.
The liturgy was led by the youth, who delivered a vivacious celebration of praise and worship to God. Chief celebrant, Fr. Manuel Antao, an SVD Missionary Priest and Pastor of the Co-Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, challenged the members of the congregation in his homily to love their enemies, and thanked the government for the work it was doing for the people.
Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris paid homage to the hundreds who came out to support the government on its second anniversary.
“It is a real privilege for me to join my Cabinet colleagues and such a wide cross-section of the community of St. Kitts and Nevis on this occasion as we commemorate the second anniversary of the Government of National Unity, the Team Unity Administration. I want to give God thanks for the spared life so that all of us are able to come out this morning and to do what is the honourable thing to do, worship Him,” said Dr. Harris, while thanking the Governor General, His Excellency Sir Tapley Seaton, his Cabinet colleagues, the diplomatic and consular corps, government officials, the leadership of the Catholic Church and all the faithful who had gathered.
Prime Minister Harris took the opportunity to invite all to participate in the week of activities to mark the august anniversary of the government’s second anniversary.
