Applications are invited from interested and suitably qualified nationals of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member States and Associate Members of the Caribbean Community to fill the following positions in the CARICOM Competition Commission in Suriname.
1. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of the Commission Secretariat. Responsibilities include the effective management of the Commission’s operations; and under the general direction of the Commission, the investigation and evaluation of evidence of anticompetitive conduct; advising the Commission on the relevant action and related procedures for dealing with such conduct; monitoring the development of competition and consumer welfare policies within the Community. The Executive Director will also be responsible for the selection and development of the professional staff and for directing their work. Interfacing with stakeholders at all levels throughout the Caribbean Community will be an integral part of the Executive Director’s functions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The Executive Director should have:
(a) an advanced degree from a recognized university, in the field of either international trade, economics, finance, law, competition law, industrial organization, competition policy or practice; or
(b) at least (10) years experience working in the administration of competition law and policy or in related regulatory policy environment.
Prior experience working in the context of regional integration generally and the Caribbean Community in particular will be considered relevant background experience.
