Highly competitive international football returns to the Football Stadium in Basseterre, when the Barbados Senior Men’s Football Team battles against host St. Kitts and Nevis National Senior Men’s Football Team.
The first leg of the encounter takes place on Saturday, 6th May, 2017, at Warner Park, starting at 8 pm.
According to SKNFA General Secretary Stanley Jacobs, the encounter with Barbados is very important.
He said, “This is all part of the strategy of the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association to keep the national team engaged in high level competition.”
Attempts to secure international games earlier in the year were not successful the general secretary said and indicated that the negotiations did not materialize.
However, he said, “We are very happy that Barbados accepted our request for this international friendly match, although it is outside the window of the FIFA international friendly calendar.”
On the return leg, St. Kitts and Nevis will play Barbados, in Barbados, later this year
Meanwhile, Jacobs confirmed arrangements made for the team.
He said, “We have already signed two big contracts for matches in Europe in June. Those negotiations started several months ago and were recently concluded.”
“On June 4th and 6th, the St. Kitts and Nevis Sugar Boyz will take on Armenia and Georgia respectively in Europe,” General Secretary Jacobs stated.
Additionally, Jacobs indicated that other international friendly matches are presently being arranged.
“Once those negotiations are finalized, we will be able to reveal those to the public,” Jacobs affirmed.
