POLICE OFFICER AND SOLDIER CHARGED FOR LARCENY, SUSPENDED FROM DUTIES

 Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 13, 2017 (RSCNPF):  A Police Constable and a Defence Force Soldier have been arrested and charged with Larceny stemming from a January 12, 2017 incident in Nevis.

The incident was first investigated as a Police involved traffic accident and after a report from the victim, transitioned into that of a case of Larceny.

Police Constable Kern Cabey, of St. Peters, St. Kitts was arrested on Tuesday (May 9) and Private Lovell Warner, of Brick Kiln. Nevis was arrested on Friday (May 12) and formally charged and cautioned for the offence of Larcency. 

Both are also likely to be charged with disciplinary offences within their respective service. 

Bail was granted to Constable Cabey and Private Warner in the amount of $5000.00 each for their appearance at the Charlestown Magistrate Court at a later date

Commissioner of Police Mr. Ian M. Queeley said, “I echo what I have previously said, our officers must maintain the highest standards of integrity. Everyone is responsible for their actions and will be held accountable. All allegations made against our officers will be investigated and the necessary action taken as deemed appropriate .”

Both have been suspended with immediate effect pending the out of these charges.
