Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 29, 2018 (SKNIS): Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, on Thursday extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Mr Jacques “Jackie” Cramer who passed away on March 28, 2018.  In conveying sympathy on behalf of the Government and people of the Federation, Prime Minister Harris noted the contribution which Mr Cramer would have made toward the socio-economic development of the Country.

“To many in St. Kitts and Nevis, the name Jackie Cramer has for many years been associated with the TDC Group of Companies, and the St. Kitts Rotary Club for which he has been a charter member since 1969.  He was a stalwart for both organisations, and a founding member for TDC”, Prime Minister Harris recalled.  “Many persons would fondly remember him for his civic-mindedness, his mild manner, and also for his considerable investment in the development of the local private sector including, but not limited to, the St. Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce.”

Prime Minister Harris pointed out that his Government had very recently recognised Mr Cramer for his national contributions at the February 21, 2018 Investiture Ceremony at Government House where he and seven other deserving nationals were recognised for their sterling contribution to nation building. In that ceremony, His Excellency the Governor General, Sir S W Tapley Seaton conferred on Mr Cramer the award of Companion of the Star of Merit (CSM) for his contribution to Commerce and Public Service.

As the public outpouring of sympathy continues in the light of Mr Cramer’s passing, a number of private and public sector representatives have been reflecting on his personality, legacy and interests.  Some have noted his interest in cattle farming, his Jewish heritage, and also his lengthy tenure as Honorary Consul to Israel.

On behalf of the Cabinet, Prime Minister Harris expressed sincere condolences to Mr. Cramer’s widow, Mrs. Jossie Cramer, to whom he was married for almost 62 years.  Similar sentiments were also extended to their children, grandchildren, and the rest of the Cramer family at this difficult time of bereavement.
