His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton, has congratulated Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris on his 25thanniversary as a Parliamentarian, which was celebrated in November with an exciting range of activities organized by the people of Constituency #7 (Belle Vue to Ottley’s) whom he has served unwaveringly since 1993.

In a letter addressed to the Honourable Prime Minister, His Excellency the Governor-General thanked Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris for his “kind invitation” to worship with him during the month of November 2018.

“I also wish to take this opportunity to extend sincere congratulations to you on this milestone achievement,” the Governor-General wrote, adding, “I commend you on your distinguished service to your Constituency and the Nation and wish you many more years of contribution to the development of our Country and People.”

After being elected to Parliament in 1993, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris won his seat five more consecutive times in 1995, 2000, 2004, 2010 and during the last general elections on February 16th, 2015, which saw him go on to become St. Kitts and Nevis’ third Prime Minister.

The next year, Prime Minister Harris received the prestigious Gusi Peace Prize, Asia’s equivalent of the Nobel Peace Prize, for his Outstanding Statesmanship.

This year, the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis was recognized for his Outstanding Leadership and Public Service and as one of the University of the West Indies’ 70 Outstanding Graduates during UWI’s 70th anniversary celebrations.

Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris has served as Minister of Agriculture, Lands and Housing (1995 to March 2000); Minister of Education, Labour and Social Security (March 2000 to August 2001); Minister of Foreign Affairs and Education (August 2001 to October 2004); Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs (October 2004 to August 2008); Minister of Finance, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs (August 2008 to January 2010), and Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade, Industry, Commerce, Consumer Affairs, Agriculture, Marine Resources, Cooperatives and Constituency Empowerment (February 2010 to January 2013).

Prime Minister Harris currently serves as Minister of Finance, Sustainable Development, National Security, People Empowerment and Constituency Empowerment.
