PROFILE
Mrs Sylvine Henry started her teaching career at the St Peters Primary School in 1968 and after three (3) weeks she was transferred to the Trinity School and there she taught Kindergarten, Grades 1, 3 and 5. She also taught Mathematics to the students in the Senior Division.
In 1971 She taught Grade 1 at the Basseterre Girls School
1972 – 1973 She entered the St Kitts-Nevis Teachers Training College
1973 – 1978 Assigned to the Irish Town Primary School and taught Kindergarten and Grade 6
Involved in Schools Co-operatives – responsible for banking and sale of stationery
1978 – 1982 Taught Mathematics to Forms 3, 4, and 5 at the Basseterre High School
1979 Attended Kuru Kuru Co-operative College in Guyana for Teacher Guides
1982 – 1984 Pursued studies at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona, Jamaica
1984 Graduated with a BSc (Hons) Economics
1984 – 1985 Taught Mathematics and Economics at the Basseterre High School
1985 – 2003 Transferred to the Government Statistics Department as a Statistician (Planning Unit)
She received extensive training in the preparation of National Accounts and Balance of Payments with many International Organizations such as the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB), United Nations (UN), OECS Secretariat, IMF Institute and the Commonwealth Secretariat.
She officially retired in 2003 after serving over thirty-six (36) years in Public Service and two (2) years in the Private Sector.
Her extra curriculum activities include lecturing University Courses in Economics and Prison Ministry to the Female Inmates at Her Majesty’s Prison – St Kitts
