(SKNIS): The formal meeting of the Cabinet took place on Monday, February 25, 2019. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris. Here are the salient matters that were discussed, and the decisions taken that are designed to advance the growth and development of the country:
- Cabinet engaged in discussions in projects to benefit the development of the Federation and considered changes to the tax regime to align the country with OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) and EU (European Union) regulations.
- Cabinet discussed ongoing capital projects and was given updates as to their delivery schedules. The chair of CARICOM, who is also the chair of Cabinet, informed the Cabinet of the plans for the 30th Inter-Sessional Meeting of the Heads of Government of the CARICOM to be held in St. Kitts on Nevis from 26-27 February 2019.
- Submissions were done by Cabinet and Cabinet approved the International Women’s Day Agenda. International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 every year. It is a focal point in the movement for women’s rights.
