Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 17, 2019 (SKNIS): The formal meeting of the Cabinet took place on Monday, April 08, 2019. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris. Here are the salient matters that were discussed, and the decisions taken that are designed to advance the growth and development of the country:
- The Cabinet was briefed by a social intervention group that is working with youth at risk. The group explained the initiatives in detail. After several meetings, the group agreed that these initiatives should be put in place to assist the persons involved and to refocus their energies on productive and law-abiding behaviour patterns. The Cabinet agreed with most of the initiatives and the Ministries involved were mandated to move expeditiously to fulfill the requirements of the group. The members of the High Command who were present commended the social intervention group and the Cabinet echoed the sentiment. The issue of marijuana education and use was also discussed and the education committee’s work under the chairmanship of the Chief Medical Officer will begin shortly. Government pledged its support to the programme and welcomed and thanked the members for the work they had been doing.
- Cabinet approved submissions which ratified the state scholar for 2018 and the national TVET scholar.
