St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris took time out of his hectic schedule in Saint Lucia today, Friday, July 5th, 2019, to heartily congratulate Constable 515 Justin Griffin and Constable 732 Rudwell Mickle for representing the Federation – and its Police Force – very well at the 40th Regular Meeting of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government.

Constables Griffin and Mickle are assigned to the Traffic Department in the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, and this week they are honoured to be serving as police outriders for the Heads of Government and their delegations.

“From all reports, the services provided, the control of traffic, and security arrangements generally have been excellently rendered, and so I want to – on behalf of the Government and people of St. Kitts and Nevis and your Commissioner of Police (Acting), Mr. Hilroy Brandy – congratulate you for making us proud and doing an excellent job,” Prime Minister Harris said today, addressing the two Constables on the sidelines of the bustling summit.

This is the first time that either of them has served outside of St. Kitts and Nevis as outriders, which heightens the honour even more.

Speaking with Prime Minister Harris in the teeming lobby of the Sandals Grande Saint Lucian Resort, Constable Rudwell Mickle said, “Thank you very much, sir.  I must say that I am glad I was selected to serve in this capacity as the security for Heads of Government and an outrider, and I am very proud to represent St. Kitts and Nevis.”

In an interview yesterday with the Press Secretary, Constable Justin Griffin said, “I was told that I was going to Saint Lucia to do this…it was very exciting [to be notified that he had been selected for the opportunity to work as an outrider for the CARICOM Meeting], and I came more or less prepared to do a good job.”

Constables Griffin and Mickle brought their motorcycles with them to Saint Lucia, joining three outriders from Antigua and Barbuda to make up a police escort of about 15.  The majority of the outriders escorting the dignitaries and their entourages during the 40th Regular Meeting are from the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.

Speaking with the Press Secretary yesterday, Special Police Constable (SPC) 259 Cherubin – one of their fellow outriders at the CARICOM summit who works for the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force – commended them, saying, “They are assisting us very well.  They are doing a very good job.  I think they should come back to Saint Lucia, whenever we have these big delegations, to assist us.”  He added: “Basically, they are picking up [learning Saint Lucia’s traffic rules and routes] so fast [that] people even thought they are Lucians!”
