Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 10, 2019 (SKNIS): Retired Major General Stewart Saunders, National Security Adviser in St. Kitts and Nevis, said that the Federation is well on its way to being a prime example for the Caribbean region on effective crime fighting techniques.

Major General Saunders made the comment while appearing on Wednesday’s (July 10) edition of “Working for You.”

“St. Kitts and Nevis is poised right now on the trend that I am seeing to be the prime example on how to fight crime, how to reduce your levels of crime and how to create safe, secure and stable economies—prime example for the Caribbean,” said Major General Saunders.

He noted that within the region many problems exist, and that St. Kitts and Nevis can be a model in dealing with some of the issues.

“I don’t see equal capacities across the Caribbean. Not all countries have the same capacity. I don’t see equity where cooperation is concerned so there are those particular problems,” he said. “We tend to keep a lot of things to our chest and not share the information and this extends to international partners as well. We need to overcome those hurdles if we are really going to deal with the problems.”
