His Excellency the Governor–General Sir S. W. Tapley Seaton GCMG, CVO, QC, JP has undertaken a number of engagements over the past few days.
On Tuesday, 9th July, His Excellency attended a Reception at the Park Hyatt Hotel hosted by Her Excellency Linda Taglialatela, Ambassador of the United States to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. This Reception was to celebrate the 243rd Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 of the United States of America.
On the following morning, Her Excellency Ambassador Linda Taglialatela paid a courtesy call on His Excellency the Governor–General at Government House, St. Kitts. They engaged in a discussion of matters of mutual interest including areas of cooperation in the promotion of National Security, Education and conservation including a review of the renovation undertaken to date of the Spooners Cotton Ginnery. The Saint Christopher National Trust was the recipient of some funding from the U. S. Embassy Ambassador‘s Fund which enabled the initial site preparation and reinforcement. The Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis has contributed additional funding to enable further renovation of the Ginnery.
On Wednesday, 10th July, His Excellency the Governor–General attended the 2019 Graduation Ceremony of the Advanced Vocational Education Centre (AVEC) held at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel. Some thirty–one (31) students graduated at this ceremony held under the Patronage of the Governor–General in the presence of the Honourable Shawn K Richards, Minister of Education, friends and family members.
The areas of study were General Office Administration, Data Operations, Commercial Food Preparation, General Cosmetology, Electricity/Electronics, General Construction and Motor Vehicle Repairs.
