Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 05, 2019 (SKNIS): As a rising star in the tourism industry globally, St. Kitts and Nevis continues to welcome new ships and first-time visitors to its idyllic shores. Such was the case when the Coral Princess of the Princess Cruises Line berthed off Port Zante in Basseterre, St. Kitts, on December 5, bringing with it over 2000 plus passengers, including crew and guests.

Speaking at the plaque exchange ceremony onboard the ship, Captain Darius Balana of Coral Princess, described St. Kitts as a beautiful place “so therefore to commemorate the moment and the time, we’ll exchange the official plaques, so this is a nice one from the Coral Princess to you.”

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Carlene Henry-Morton, welcomed the guests and crew of Coral Princess, while noting that five of its sister ships have visited the country before.

“We have lots to do on island. We know your two thousand plus guests once they disembark, they’re going to have a wonderful time with us. We have cuisine, entertainment, hiking, tours, all kinds of things to do on island and you can simply relax if that is what you want. So, we have a simple message for our guests basically—it’s come experience, enjoy, return with other guests,” Mrs. Henry-Morton said.

Plaque exchanges also took place with Coral Princess from Delisle Walwyn and Co. Ltd, represented by Manager of Port Services, Olonzo Alexander, and from the St. Christopher Air and Sea Ports Authority by its Corporate Manager, Marva Burroughs.

The Princess Patter: Your Daily Guide to Life at Sea described St. Kitts and Nevis as such: “Two green islands rise up from the depths of a cobalt sea, each offering a step back in time to a more genteel era. When life was a little slower and relaxation was a virtue—the idyllic duo of St. Kitts and Nevis personifies these attributes. Indulge in a leisurely pace while discovering distinctive cultural traditions or set out on an adventurous coastal cruise. Stroll through the tropical garden of fabled Clay Villa Plantation House. Learn the flavourful secrets of the island at a culinary demo. Take a languid swim with dolphins. You set the pace, the time is yours.”

Coral Princess, with more than 700 balcony staterooms, was custom built to navigate the historic Panama Canal. The ship boasts 1000 guest cabins, 16 decks, and accommodates 2000 guests and 895 crew.
