Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 30, 2021- Mrs. Sonia Boddie- Thompson, Clerk of the National Assembly, and former student of the Cayon High School, became the school’s first Project Fifty Ambassador on Monday, 29th November, 2021, when she donated a printer at a small but significant ceremony held at the school.
As the school commemorates its Fiftieth Anniversary, Mrs. Boddie-Thompson noted that she was happy to continue her support of the school, and to come on board at this time, to make a substantive donation. She remarked, “Today, I have decided to take it up a notch, and to donate a Canon All in One Laser Printer to the Cayon High School, to their Project Fifty endeavor. And, I am really excited to do this, because, at the Cayon High School, I was able to bloom, blossom and flourish and to nurture my gifts and my talents.”
Beaming with pride, the Principal of the Cayon High School, Ms. Andrea James, welcomed Mrs. Boddie-Thompson to the school and thanked her for making the very first donation to Project Fifty, which is geared towards encouraging past students to support the school in various ways.
Project Coordinator for Project Fifty, teacher, Hon. Senator. Dr. Joyelle Clarke, also praised Mrs. Boddie-Thompson for her continued support and generosity and for accepting the challenge to be a Project Fifty Ambassador, while giving a brief overview of the role of a Project Fifty Ambassador. She stated, “Sonia is underselling herself because she is now one of our first Project Fifty Ambassadors.” She added that to be an Ambassador, “You can donate, or as Sonia always does, you can lend of your expertise and knowledge.”
She further advised that Mrs. Boddie-Thompson had facilitated a number of sessions in the past, training both staff and students. She gladly noted that Mrs. Boddie-Thompson “… Has always been there partnering with us, and that is what we need here at the Cayon High School, partnership. [We need] donations, but most importantly, partnership.” Hon. Dr. Clarke, therefore, strongly encouraged persons who were interested in partnering with the school to contact the school’s newest Ambassador, Mrs. Sonia Boddie-Thompson, or to contact herself or the Principal, Ms. James.
Mrs. Sonia Boddie-Thompson graduated from the Cayon High School 20 years ago and also serves as a Senior Foreign Service Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Aviation in the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.
