BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, February 10, 2022 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, through the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), on Wednesday, February 09, 2022, was the recipient of two 40-foot containers of medical and relief supplies, donated by the SimplyHelp Foundation.

Theitems, which included hand sanitizers, face shields, surgical masks and gowns, blankets and clothing accessories, will greatly aid NEMA in its response to disasters as well as in its continued fight against COVID-19.

TheSimplyHelp Foundation, according to its website www.simplyhelp.org, is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles dedicated to relieving poverty by providing emergency disaster relief, vocational training, and shelter and care for the homeless and elderly.

Making brief remarks at Wednesday’s handing-over ceremony, Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris, hailed the philanthropic endeavours of the SimplyHelp Foundation and its Founder and Executive Director, Ms. Tina Bow.

“Powerful citizens all over the world are doing a lot to make the world a better place, a more compassionate place, and Tina Bow is one such citizen. In fact, in many respects when we begin to look at it, the support that we have had from Tina and the support that can come from citizens around the world can in fact be much more than we can get through bilateral cooperation with a number of countries,” Prime Minister Harris said at the event which was held at the NEMA Conference Room.

The St. Kitts and Nevis prime minister also expressed his gratitude to the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), through its Resident Ambassador His Excellency Michael Lin, for making the initial introduction between the SimplyHelp Foundation and the twin island Federation.

Ambassador Lin delivered remarks at Wednesday’s ceremony on behalf the SimplyHelp Foundation and its Founder, Ms. Tino Bow. The Ambassador stated, “I believe this donation from a Taiwanese organization, an NGO, not only represents the full support from the Taiwanese people to the COVID-19 pandemic response and the hurricane disaster management in St. Kitts and Nevis, but it also demonstrates the staunch partnership between our two countries.”

The two 40-foot containers of medical and relief supplies valued at over US$355,000.

Over the years, the partnership between the SimplyHelp Foundation and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has resulted in several meaningful donations targeting the young and vulnerable groups.

As recently as August 2021, the Ministry of Education accepted a donation of children’s items, gift sets, male and female clothing, sporting equipment, electrical devices, household items and stationery compliments the SimplyHelp Foundation.
