Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 16, 2023 (SKNIS): The Energy Unit of the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis held an Energy Career Fair on March 16, 2023, with the purpose of giving the people of the Federation an opportunity to explore careers in the environment, energy, engineering and natural resources field.

The theme for the Energy Career Fair was ‘Preparing for the Green Economy,’ designed to provide a realistic picture of professions within the energy sector.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Darryl Lloyd said that the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis has prioritized the development of a green economy as one of its major goals.

“This pursuit has motivated the Energy Unit within the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Energy and Utilities, Domestic Transport to host a number of workshops and initiatives geared towards preparing our citizens for future prospects of the green economy,” said Mr. Lloyd

In speaking to the students, he pointed out that it was an opportunity for them to learn more about the energy sector by listening and receiving information through dialogue with officials from within the energy sector.

He added, “It is our hope that, by the end of the session, you are exposed to the inner workings of the energy sector and the potential career opportunities the field has to offer.”

Students from the Advanced Vocational Education Centre (AVEC), and the Arts, Science and General Studies (A.S.G.S.) and Technical Vocational Education and Management Studies (T.V.E.M.S.) Divisions of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College in St. Kitts and the Nevis Sixth Form College participated in the Energy Career Fair.
