“We are a government who listens, and whenever there are times when changes ought to be made, we are not going to be afraid to make them,” said Deputy Prime Minister Hanley during the June 12, 2023, sitting of the National Assembly.

He went on to announce that the size of the one-bedroom houses has increased from 450 square feet to 592 square feet. The two-bedroom homes will go from 862 square feet to 879 square feet, while the three-bedroom houses will increase from 1,200 square feet to 1,288 square feet.

“With all of the negotiating, these larger homes will not attract any additional costs. None whatsoever, and I am happy to report that,” Dr. Hanley told the nation tuned in to the Federal Parliament.

The Deputy Prime Minister also hailed the number of jobs and the overall economic activity to be generated by this project as they roll out 2400 homes over the next four years—600 homes per year.

“Our local contractors and tradesmen of St. Kitts and Nevis will be the stakeholders who will build the 2,400 homes,” Honourable Hanley added. “Our heavy equipment operators, carpenters, masons, electricians, plumbers, painters, tile layers, joiners, our workmen of every skill will be gainfully employed as part of the New Housing Revolution.”
