This development further underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing healthcare in St. Kitts and Nevis through strategic partnerships and innovative advancements.

During the signing ceremony, Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Marcus Natta, stated that the build-out of the new hospital is a critical project for St. Kitts and Nevis. He noted that a fundamental responsibility of the government is to ensure the health and well-being of its citizens and “[this new hospital] is a significant step towards achieving that goal and ensuring that persons have access to quality healthcare.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Dr. Drew, while making a statement during the May 02, 2024, sitting of the National Assembly, commented that the basis for the construction of the new hospital is to protect the nation’s health infrastructure from the associated effects of climate change such as stronger hurricanes and increased temperatures.

“If there’s one institution that should be standing after any significant natural disaster it should be and must be a hospital,” Prime Minister Drew emphasised.

The prime minister said his government understands and appreciates that the health sector is the most vital sector in any economy, hence the reason why his administration aggressively pursued this project.

A second public signing ceremony for the National Hospital Project is scheduled to take place at the site of the new hospital in Camp’s later today.
